Adria Rae

Portrait of Adria Rae

Adria Rae is an American adult actress and director from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her path runs from webcam performances to studio films, magazine work and a Deeper directing debut encouraged by filmmaker Kayden Kross.

Adria Rae

The person behind the name

Adria Rae grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and worked in retail and at a financial firm before moving into professional adult filmmaking. Webcam shows provided her first experience of performing online; a studio opportunity followed after she was approached through that work.

Directing was an ambition she discussed early in her career. In 2019 it became a studio credit when Kayden Kross invited her to direct Finish for Deeper. Her subsequent public record combines acting, magazine photography and individual studio spotlights, with creative work on both sides of the camera.

Adria Rae behind the camera

A start in Michigan

Rae’s AVN profile identifies Grand Rapids as her hometown. Before studio work, she held retail jobs and spent approximately six months at a financial firm, describing a working life that combined regular employment with webcam shows.

She began broadcasting on MyFreeCams after turning eighteen and continued for around a year at home. An approach through one of those shows led to an opportunity in Los Angeles, changing the setting from independent broadcasts to professional production.

Finding the name Adria Rae

At the beginning of her studio career, Rae briefly used Aspen Reign, a name supplied by the first company she worked with. In her own account, another performer already used that name and contacted her after the releases appeared.

She subsequently changed her professional name to Adria Rae. The episode is a specific part of her early career story, and explains why the earlier name appears in some catalog records without treating the two performers as the same person.

An interest in storytelling

Rae has described a fondness for psychological thrillers, naming The Shining and Shutter Island in an early interview. Her interests also extended to architecture and the possibility of working in real estate later on.

At that stage she was already observing production crews and talking about directing. She wanted more women working behind the camera and imagined building projects where women could take a stronger role in shaping the production.

A shared magazine cover

Hustler’s October 2020 issue placed Rae on the cover alongside Lana Rhoades. For Rae, the release was her debut appearance in the magazine; Rhoades had appeared on its cover before.

The shared pictorial added a magazine credit to Rae’s screen work. It was a collaboration with another named performer in a specific issue, distinct from the individual studio spotlights that would also become part of her public record.

An individual studio spotlight

Cherry Pimps selected Rae as its first Cherry of the Month for 2021. Photographer and producer Dean Capture worked with her on the spotlight, which included an exclusive shoot and new material.

Rae chose Brooklyn Gray as a co-star for the project. Capture described her as both a performer and an accomplished director, connecting that individual presentation to the broader creative experience she brought to the shoot.

Collaborations across different productions

Rae leads the third installment of Luminati, the LucidFlix collaboration directed by Seth Gamble and Siren Obscura. Titled Aperture, the 2024 release used a stylized photographic setting, with Gamble praising her preparation and professionalism.

Other credits include Bellesa House’s Crush 2 with Dante Colle and Jacky St. James’s Infidelity & Indiscretions. These projects bring together different directors, casts and production approaches within the same working career.
